To be eligible for the HELP program, students must be PNG citizens, enrolled and registered at a Higher Education Institution recognized by DHERST, and the study program they undertake should be accredited by the National Higher and Technical Education Board (NHTEB) or another authorized body.

DHERST facilitates four batches of HELP applications every year. The application timeline for HELP 2023 is as follows:

The last (4th) batch and the HELP application cycle for this year will be closed as of 31st October 2023. Therefore, DHERST will not accept any applications from students who applied and submitted the HELP after this date.

To apply for the HELP loan program, students need to fulfil the requirements, including submitting a signed HELP Declaration Form and any one of the following ID documents – Gr 12 certificate, Student ID, PNG NID/birth certificate, Passport, or Driver’s license.

Students may contact the DHERST Support Service at noassupport@dherst.gov.pg or visit the HELP login page https://ipng.dherst.gov.pg/ for further information.

The HELP program by DHERST is an excellent initiative to provide financial assistance to students who want to pursue higher education in PNG. By meeting the eligibility criteria and following the application guidelines, students can apply for the HELP program and avail themselves of the benefits of the loan.
